Great Things to do in Budapest

Friends and family ask me all the time for my top recommendation of a European city break. Its not an easy choice to make as Europe is my favourite continent in the world and I always find it hard when I love a place to say do I keep coming back or try somewhere else. However having made several trips to Budapest, it is a no brainer. I always without fail tell people go to Budapest.

Things to do in Budapest

If I’m honest people are often surprised I think they expect something different and they often hadn’t considered going themselves but when I start talking about Budapest they want to buy the flights there and then.

I’m really not a box ticking kind of person but Budapest ticks all of the boxes, things list of things to do in Budapest is endless, it is such a diverse city it is perfect for everyone, which is why I harp on about it so much.

The things I love about Budapest are; its not expensive like Paris or London, spoiled like Prague and Krakow or ridiculously crowded like Venice or Rome, its just brilliant. There is an increasing demand for flights routes to and from Budapest as more and more people are hearing about this amazing city, the there are a number of budget airlines to choose from and flights are very reasonable.

Once you get there give yourself plenty of time, as there are so many things to do in Budapest you don’t want to miss out on any of the action. My top recommendation is to just get put there and either ‘get on your bike and ride’ or take a good pair of walking shoes. The more you can see and discover in you first day will allow you to discover more things to do in Budapest than all of the maps and guides say.

There are a number of extremely fun and reasonable bike tours and with Budapest being so big and divided by the Danube into Pest and Buda, a bike is a great way to get around and discover more things to do in Budapest. Walking tours are great as they allow you a slower pace to take in the information and help you plan your stay.
